HAPPENING NOW: BP DIAZ, BANK LEUMI & UJA-NY HOST CHECK PRESENTATION

This afternoon, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. will recognize a $50,000 grant made by Bank Leumi USA to Mosholu Montefiore Community Center, a UJA-Federation of New York partner, for its Workforce Development Program, which enables young people who are out of school and work to receive critical workforce support, such as resume writing, life skills, financial literacy training, and job placement.
The Bank Leumi USA  grant will provide 40 – 50 at-risk young adults with tuition coverage for advanced certificate training programs, as well as the necessary wrap-around services, educational supplies, transportation costs, and test fees associated with these programs.

“I want to thank Bank Leumi USA for their generosity and contribution to the Workforce Development Program at the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center. This funding will help provide individuals from the Bronx with training and job placement assistance, which is a top priority of my administration,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

“By investing in education and job training, we are equipping our students and their families to meet the challenges of tomorrow while also expanding their skill sets that will aid them in advancing in their chosen professions. I also want to thank Mosholu Montefiore Community Center for their dedication to helping our most vulnerable communities attain the necessary tools to be successful in today’s ever-evolving job market.”

Representatives of Bank Leumi USA, the UJA-Federation of New York and the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center are expected to attend this morning event.

Mosholu Montefiore Community Center is located in a particularly vulnerable North Bronx neighborhood where it is the largest not-for-profit provider of education, employment, and health and recreation classes, serving more than thousands of impoverished residents each year.
