Chill In The Air: 3 Wounded in Fordham Heights
by David Greene
Three people were wounded, one critically as a still-unknown assailant shot three people in broad daylight along a bustling street in Fordham Heights.
Police sources say that at just before 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, two victims were shot as they sat in the back seat of a livery cab headed westbound along East 183 Street, when the assailant walked up to the vehicle and fired at his two victims.
One witness reported the male victim in the taxi returned fire, before being shot in the neck.
EMS reported a 23 year-old male and 21 year-old woman were wounded and were rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they remain in serious but stable condition. Both were expected to survive.
The third victim, an unidentified 28 year-old man apparently sought refuge from the gunfire and ducked into a deli, where the gunman blasted through the front door of the deli, hitting the man in the chest.
That victim was reportedly transported by private means to North Central Bronx Hospital. One unconfirmed police source had stated that the third victim had died.
Police have made no arrests and the investigation is on-going.
