EMT Killed During Ambulance Theft

A female EMT was killed and her partner is fighting for her life after an unknown assailant attempted to drive off with their running ambulance in Soundview.

The incident was reported at just after 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 16, when the individual jumped into the ambulance at the intersection of White Plains Road and Watson Avenue.

The pair of EMT’s attempted to stop the individual and both were apparently run over as the suspect hit the gas pedal.

The two paramedics were transported by ambulance to Jacobi Hospital with a police escort.

Late word from Jacobi was that one of the paramedics has died. Her name has been withheld pending family notification.

Officers from the 43rd Precinct reportedly have the the ambulance thief in custody and he was being questioned by detectives at this hour.
