Fordham’s Joseph Chartouny to Declare for NBA Draft

Fordham University sophomore guard Joseph Chartouny announced today that he will declare for the 2017 NBA Draft. However, he will not sign with an agent, allowing him to return to Fordham if he withdraws by the May 24 deadline.

 Chartouny just completed his sophomore season at Fordham, averaging 12.1 ppg, second on the team, and 4.1 rpg in 29 games. The 2016-17 Preseason All-Atlantic 10 (Third Team) selection set the school single season steals record with 94 this winter (former mark was 78) and he led the Atlantic 10 and is third in the NCAA in steals/game (3.24) and fifth in the nation in total steals.

Chartouny, who was named to the 2017 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, also finished the season ranked third in the in Atlantic 10 with 144 assists (5.0/game), 56th overall in the NCAA.

The 2016 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, Chartouny averaged 11.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg and 6.2 assists/game. He led the Atlantic 10, and was 20th in the NCAA, in assists/game while he also led the conference in steals/game (2.2), ranking 16th in the NCAA, and was seventh in assist/turnover ratio (2.1).

His 161 assists on the season was a Fordham freshman record, tied for fifth all-time for a Ram in a season, while his 6.2 apg average led all NCAA Division I freshmen.
