Members of the NYPD’s Harbor Unit and Emergency Service Unit were joined by marine biologists and specialists from several organizations including the Bronx Zoo, who eventually had to euthanize the mammal. The Atlantic Marine Conservation Society is expected to perform a necropsy to determine what caused injuries to the whales belly.
