Hundreds of Constituents Rally in Support of Senator Jeff Klein and the IDC

Supporters gathered outside his district office Friday to celebrate his continued success in Albany

Bronx, NY – Hundreds of constituents rallied in support of Senator Jeff Klein and the Independent Democratic Conference outside of his district office Friday afternoon. Community leaders from every corner of Klein’s 34th Senatorial district showed up to praise the senator’s continued success both within the district and in the state.

The supporters bore handmade signs thanking Senator Klein for his tireless efforts to improve their communities and the lives of New Yorkers across the state. The crowd also chanted their appreciation, shouting, “Our future shines, with Senator Jeff Klein,” and “the IDC is right for me,” among other things.

The major showing of support drove away a group of roughly 30 people who came to demonstrate against Senator Klein. The majority of those people came from out-of-district.

But local supporters drowned them out and touted Senator Klein’s achievements.

“We can always count on Senator Klein to take a leadership role in fighting for our community,”said Broadway Community Alliance President, Laura Spalter.

“Senator Klein has always been a strong supporter of the Pelham community. He is receptive to our needs and has helped secure funding for some of our community’s most sought after projects, including the renovation of Wolf’s Lane Park,” said Town of Pelham Democratic Committee Chairman, Ed Doty.

“Senator Jeff Klein is the politician that we see the most. In good times or bad, Jeff is around. We call and he is there. He is most on top on what is going on in our community, and anything that we’ve ever asked, he’s either got it done or tried very hard to do so,” said Locust Point Civic Association President, Joe Donovan.

“In my experience, Senator Klein has been a firm supporter of this community and our needs. Much more so than any other elected official I can think of,” said Waterbury LaSalle Community Association President, Mary Jane Musano.

“As small a business owner, Jeff has been wonderful for City Island. He’s been a real friend to City Island residents and its small business owners. He always there when you need him and he’s a true representative of the community’s he serves,” said City Island business owner, Skip Giacco.

“Our senator is one of the top senators in the state. Senator Klein loves his community and he supports his community. He’s always giving out grants to this community for improve our quality of life and safety  I cannot express more my happiness to have him as a senator, who covers my community of Morris Park,” said Morris Park Community Association President Tony Signorile.

“Nobody has done more for this community than Senator Klein. He looks after our students, schools and, of course, constituents.  He is hands down one of the best elected officials we’ve ever had in this community. He’s at every meeting and attends every community affair,” said Morris Park Community Association Vice President, Al D’Angelo.

“We voted for Jeff Klein because he gets things done for us. With Senator Klein at the helm, our community sees real results,” said Allerton Avenue Homeowners and Tenants Association President, Sal Castorina.

“Jeff Klein is an extremely hard worker who offers real solution to our community’s problems. He always strives to improve our quality of life and increase the safety of our neighborhoods,” said Northeast Bronx Community Association President, Vincent Prezioso.

“Our association works very closely with Senator Klein, and he’s always been very conscious of the needs of our community. We are in very strong support of Senator Klein, who will seemingly do whatever it takes to meet our demands. Whether it be pedestrian and transportation improvements of parks enhancements, Senator Klein has worked diligently to allocate the state funds needed to assist our city in making these necessary adjustments,” said President of the Fleetwood Neighborhood Association, Mike Justino.

“Jeff Klein delivers for the residents in Community Board #9. He is an outstanding state senator who is not afraid to tackle any problem. He’s the first one willing to take care of any and all problems in this community. He’s done so much for the kids, not only in CB 9, but across the whole city,” said Castle Hill Homeowners Association President, Izzy Morales.

“Senator Jeff Klein is the first person I call when our community needs results. He is one hardest working elected officials out there, who will go above and beyond to resolve any issues that may arise throughout the year,” said Throggs Neck Houses Resident Council, President Monique Johnson.

“Senator Klein has been a blessing for this community. He has been a great supporter of the Bronx Stand Up Against Violence program, which helps reduce crime throughout the borough. Regardless of race or social status, Senator Klein looks out for all of the people,” said Director of Community Outreach and a founder of the SUV program, Pastor Jay Gooding.

“Thank God for people like Jeff Klein.  He is a champion for the people in his district, and is a fighter for the quality of life issues that his constituents are concerned about. Jeff is always trying to make life easier for the people in his District that are struggling to have a good life,” said Sack-Wern Houses Resident Association President, Loretta Masterson.

“As a Senator and as a person, he is the best of the best. Whenever the community asks something of him, he always delivers. Senator Klein is a present figure of this community, which he truly cares about,”said Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Association President, Edith Blitzer.

Earlier this year, Senator Klein, as leader of the Independent Democratic Conference, lead the way on legislation to Raise the Age of criminal responsibility, a historic $10 million investment in legal defense funding for immigrants and record education funding.
