Sen. Rev. Rubén Diaz announced via his What You Should Know email that the Grand Marshall of this year’s Christian Children’s Parade will be Reverend Abigail Serrano, the widow of New York City Police Department Chaplain, Reverend Luis Serrano. Rev. Serrano died last October after a long bout with cancer. A section of Chatterton Avenue, the street between Virginia and Pugsley Avenue, was re-named (Reverend  Dr. Louis F. Serrano Way) in his honor shortly before his death. For the past 61 years, a large number (what Diaz called a “majority”) of Christian Churches in the City of New York have participated in this annual Parade.

The 2017 Children’s Christian Parade will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 12 noon, starting at East 97th Street and Third Avenue going north to East 122nd Street.

A Reviewing Stand — where dignitaries and invited guests will be able to view Parade Floats, Performances of Church groups, and address the public — will be located at Third Avenue and East 116th Street. Rev. Diaz said that everyone is welcomed.
