“The fatal shooting of Officer Miosotis Familia early this morning is an unspeakable crime. Officer Familia, the mother of three children, was serving the Bronx community in an area that has experienced many incidents of gun violence and drug activity. Her death is a stark reminder of how our police officers face danger every time they go out to keep our city safe.
“I offer heartfelt condolences to Officer Familia’s children, relatives and friends, and to her family in blue.
“This is a continuing investigation.”
