A detective from the Manhattan Narcotics Bureau was shot in the leg after his weapon accidentally discharged as he attempted to stop a vehicle for drugs.

The incident was reported at 4:50 p.m. on Friday, July 7 at Westchester Avenue and Faile Street in the Foxhurst section. The officer was rushed to Lincoln Hospital in stable condition.

Arriving officers arrested Elizabeth Rios, 20, and Luis Morales, both of Syracuse, N.Y., who were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The incident took place a half block from the NYPD Special Victims Unit.
