Mural Arts Comes to C.S. 211

Parents, local officials and students gathered for an unveiling and ribbon cutting for a NYC Mural Arts Project unveiled at C.S. 211, on Tuesday, July 11. The two giant murals painted on the front and side of school, located at 1919 Prospect Avenue, features a positive mental health messages that bring, “a holistic approach to living and education” in the Tremont community. Invited guests Dr. Mary Bassett, Commissioner of the New York City , Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; Senator Gustavo Rivera and Assemblymen Luis Sepulveda and Michael Blake joined principal Tanya Drummond muralist Toya Snyder for the unveiling. Fund in part by the Fund for Public Health, the 9-month project by the NYC Mural Arts Project who were assisted by V.I.P. Community Services, sought input from organizations and individuals on the vision of the communities mental health.
