EMPIRE STATE HUMANE VOTERS ENDORSES DEMOCRAT AMANDA FARIAS FOR CITY COUNCIL

(BRONX, NY) – Today, Empire State Humane Voters announced its support of Democrat Amanda Farias for City Council. ESHV’s endorsement comes just after the Farias campaign submitted nearly 3,100 petition signatures to get on the ballot for the September 12th Democratic Primary.

“I am thrilled to receive the backing of Empire State Humane Voters,” Amanda Farias, candidate for the 18th City Council District said. “I have always been a huge supporter of animal rights, and I feel that it is crucial to pass legislation that will ensure the humane treatment of New York City’s animals. Protecting the rights of animals, protects their inherent worth. Every animal with a will to live, has a right to live free of suffering. I will make every effort to ensure that our City’s animals are cared for.”

“Amanda Farias is a friend to the animals of NYC, and we are proud to endorse her candidacy for City Council,” Allie Taylor, Founder & Executive Director of Empire State Humane Voters said. “Amanda will be a strong voice for animal rights in the City Council because she understands that local government has the power to create a more humane environment for our animals throughout our city and in her borough. Amanda will be a strong advocate in the political process and we look forward to working with her to achieve these goals.”

Empire State Humane Voters was launched in Spring 2017. ESHV’s mission is to elect candidates who support animal protection, lobby for stronger laws to stop animal cruelty, and hold elected officials accountable to humane voters.
