They have a hero in the Dominican Republic: Albert Pujois, the future Hall of Famer currently with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Los Trinitarios, a baseball organization from Santo Domingo arrived in the Bronx this week ready to show their skills.

Pujois, who comes from a nearby town in the Dominican Republic, is one of many Major League Baseball stars the kids admire.  This is the second consecutive year the youngsters, aged 8-to-17, have made the journey to the Bronx with coaches, parents, and friends.

They are able to supplement their trip through fundraising efforts and financial contributions by the coaches.

Thursday afternoon they put the gloves and spikes on at the Castle Hill Little League Field and nearby some of the coaches played softball with members of the NYPD.  Later, the kids were treated to a baseball style barbecue courtesy of the Castle Hill Little League.

The baseball organization will be in the Bronx through August 6th and will play a schedule of games against other organized leagues. There are also plans to attend a game at Yankee Stadium.
