Members of the FBI – NYPD Violent Crimes Task Force needed less than a week to identify and capture a local man wanted for bank robbery.

Police were eventually led to suspect Kevin Castillo, 40, who resides less than four blocks away on Barnes Avenue.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Castillo has pleaded not guilty to attempted robbery and criminal use of a firearm and was remanded to the Department of Corrections.

At the time of the incident an NYPD official had stated, “The male suspect passed a note, displayed a firearm and demanded cash. Suspect then fled location without cash.”

Officers had described the suspect as being a black man, 5′ 6” tall and wearing a black jacket and red hat. He was reportedly carrying a T-Mobile bag and was believed to have fled towards the Pelham Parkway Houses.

The wanted flyer noted that the suspect was “considered armed and dangerous.”
