Chairman Crowley on President Trump’s Plan to Provide Tax Cuts to Billionaires
(Washington, D.C.) – House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-NY) issued the following statement on President Trump’s meaningless tax reform draft issued today:
“This tax plan is a joke. It provides no details and has no basis in reality. After nine months in power, President Trump and Republicans in Congress have failed to provide any solutions to lower the tax burden for working Americans or to make our tax code simpler for small business owners.
“President Trump continues to propose plans that would solely benefit his rich friends and corporate special interests, while attacking tax benefits for the middle class, such as the tax deduction provided to offset state and local taxes or the deduction for home mortgages. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I will fight any legislation that increases the tax burden on the middle class to give multinational corporations and billionaires another tax cut.”
