Mayor de Blasio: Shana Tova!

Chirlane and I want to wish all New Yorkers, especially those celebrating, a happy and healthy new year right before Rosh Hashanah begins.

This city is rich with Jewish heritage and culture, and we are all better for it. The messages of self-improvement, gaining a clean slate, and recognizing directives to help our neighbors and create a more fair City all resonate with our mission.

This past year was a hard one to watch. Division and hate have run rampant and our society’s fabric as an open, loving and inclusive nation has sustained serious challenge.

We should all take this opportunity to re-commit ourselves to our work for justice and fairness.
