Fordham Football Coach Resigns

Fordham Football Head Coach Andrew Breiner Resigns

Will join staff of former Ram mentor Joe Moorhead at Mississippi State

Bronx, N.Y – Fordham University head football coach Andrew Breiner announced his resignation effective immediately as he will join the staff of former Fordham head coach Joe Moorhead at Mississippi State University.

“I have very much enjoyed working with Andrew over the last five years,” said Director of Athletics David Roach. “We would like to thank Andrew for his hard work and dedication to the Fordham football program. Andrew has shown that he is one of the up-and-coming young coaches and we wish him and his family the best moving forward.”
“I want to thank Dave Roach for giving me the opportunity to be the head football coach at Fordham,” said Breiner. “It was an honor to lead such a prestigious program and I will forever be grateful to the administrators, coaching staff and the student-athletes for making it such a memorable experience.”Breiner just completed his second season as the head coach at Fordham. After going 8-3 in his first season, the most wins for a first-year Fordham head football coach in modern times, the injury bug hit the Rams this fall as they went 4-7, but won three of their last four games.

Prior to being named head coach, Breiner, a 2006 graduate of Lock Haven (Pa.) University, served as the offensive coordinator for four years at Fordham after serving as a graduate assistant the previous three years with Moorhead at the University of Connecticut.

A national search for a new coach will begin immediately.
