Former Heastie Aide Marricka Scott-McFadden Tapped as Next Deputy BP

Although an official announcement regarding the selection of a new Deputy Bronx Borough President is in the offing, reeliable sources say that Marricka Scott-McFadden — a former deputy chief clerk at the Bronx Board of Elections for five years — is the rumored pick. Scott-McFadden, a Democrat, is a vice president at Mercury Public Affairs, a firm founded by veterans of the Pataki administration. She was previously Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie’s chief of staff (2001 to 2010) before he was elevated to speaker.

Reached for comment, Fernando Ferrer, co-Chairman at Mercury Public Affairs, LLC and a former borough president said, “Marricka would be a wonderful choice.” He called her, “Smart, resourceful and ethical.” “You can’t beat that,” he added. In January 2016, Mercury Public Affairs hired her as a vice president in its New York City and Albany offices — a year after Heastie became Assembly Speaker.

Scott-McFadden holds a master’s degree in public administration from Metropolitan College. She earned a bachelor degree in history and political science at Lehman College in the Bronx. According to her LinkedIn profile, she is also a member of the Alpha Pi Pi honor society.
