Diaz to Take Oath of Office in Special Ceremony, 12/ 21

On Thursday, December 21, Senator Rubén Díaz will be taking the oath of office as the City Councilman for the 18th Council District in New York City.

This special ceremony will take place during the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization’s Annual Christmas Breakfast, which will take place at Maestros Caterers located at 1703 Bronxdale Avenue in Bronx County starting at 9:00 am.

Senator Díaz’s swearing-in-ceremony will be officiated by the New York City Clerk, the Hon. Michael McSweeney who will travel to the Bronx for the occasion.

After serving sixteen years representing the residents of the 32nd Senate District, Sen. Díaz decided to give up his Senate seat for the position of NYC Councilman, which he won in the past general election conducted on Tuesday, November 7, of this year. Díaz was first elected to the City Council in 2001. He only served a year before running against and defeating then-Senator Pedro Espada, Jr. in 2002.

During the Clergy breakfast, the ministers will also conduct the swearing-in ceremony of their newly elected Board of Directors for the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization.

Senator Díaz will officially begin his term of office as a City Councilman on January 1, 2018 at 12:01 am. He will take his official oath of office when the City Council convenes on January 3rd.
