Kwanzaa Celebration 2017 Calendar

Today marks Umoja (Unity): To strive for and to maintain unity in the family, community, nation, and race.

Voza Rivers New Heritage Theatre co-presents with the American Museum of Natural History and Community Works and Community Works, the Museum’s 39th Anniversary of Kwanzaa on 12/30, with performances by the Persuasions, Vy Higginsen’s Gospel For Teens and the Brooklyn United Marching Band on 12/20 at the Museum.

The Sugar Hill Children’s Museum of Art will host the Harlem Opera Theater presentation HOLIDAY COMMUNITY SINGS on December 21.

Families can celebrate Kwanzaa with several days of festive activities — including arts and crafts, story time and more — at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum in Crown Heights. December 26-January 1.

The Apollo Theater’s 10th Kwanzaa Gala set for Saturday, December 30, 2 PM. The Forces of Nature Dance Theatre performs.  The Apollo’s celebration is a joyful evening of dance  and music honoring the principles of Kwanzaa—family, community, and culture. Tickets here.

KWANZAA 2017 Saturday, December 30, 2017, Noon – 5pm at the American Museum of Natural History — a celebration of African-American heritage rooted in seven principles known as Nguzo Saba, which promote unity, culture, and community development. Featuring gospel-infused tunes from the heavyweight champions of a cappella, The Persuasions, the flare and pageantry of the Brooklyn United Marching Band, and an electric performance by Vy Higginsen’s Sing Harlem Choir. Hosted by Dr. Linda H. Humes, scholar and storyteller. Location:
