Just in time for the holidays, Senator Jeff Klein announced critical funding for the YMCA of Greater New York’s Family Ties Program.
The $50,000 in state funding secured by Senator Klein will support the community engagement program in which parents and their children take part in various activities including crafts, culinary arts, dance and, of course, music. Along with promoting exercise, educational enrichment and healthy eating habits, the program has also been shown to foster stronger bonds between parents and children.
The announcement was made at The Bronx Y during the Family Ties Program Holiday Cooking Class and was met with excitement from all the participants as well as Executive Director of the Bronx YMCA, Sharlene Brown who has been a long partner with Senator Klein on such initiatives.
