Foreclosures in the Bronx up 44% year-over-year

We’ve just finished compiling our Residential Foreclosure Report for 2017 and wanted to share with you the results.

650 homes in the Bronx were scheduled for auction for the first time in 2017, translating into a 44% year-over-year growth.

  • NYC foreclosures were up 58% year-over-year, highest level since 2009
  • First-time auctions doubled in Brooklyn compared to 2016
  • Staten Island sees the highest increase in first time-auctions, up 134% year-over-year
  • 12,072 lis pendens cases were filed against NYC homeowners in 2017, down 4% year-over-year
