Nelson Management Group Achieves IREM Certified Sustainable Property Certification for Lafayette Boynton Complex
The Bronx, NY – Nelson Management Group announced today that their multifamily, mixed-income apartment complex, Lafayette Boynton, has achieved IREM Certified Sustainable Property certification, a mark of distinction for existing office, multifamily, and retail properties.
The IREM Certified Sustainable Property certification awards multifamily communities, like Lafayette Boynton, for their efforts to create more environmentally friendly and sustainable properties. Properties that are part of the program must have completed a substantial environmental repositioning, feature smoke-free interior common areas, be in compliance with all environmental laws, and be committed to sustainability.

The Lafayette Boynton complex is comprised of 972 units in four, 19-story towers at 875 & 825 Boynton Avenue and 820 & 880 Colgate Avenue. Since the 1.07 million-square-foot complex was purchased in October of 2011, ownership has invested $17M to complete transformative renovations to all common areas, individual apartments and landscaping, while also implementing significant energy efficiency upgrades in a move to reduce the buildings’ overall carbon footprint. The four buildings are managed by Nelson Management Group and are easily identified on the Bronx skyline by blue lights, which adorn the top of all four towers.
The Lafayette Boynton apartments are conveniently located adjacent to Soundview Park, which soon will offer ferry service directly to Manhattan, as well as two Metro-North stations within five minutes. The property is a 15-minute drive to Midtown Manhattan with easy access to the RFK Triboro Bridge. The complex is also served by the No. 5 bus and is a 10-minute walk to the No. 6 train.
