Bronx Week 2018 Veterans’ Appreciation Day Breakfast

On May 14, 2018, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Bronx Veterans’ Advisory Council hosted the annual Bronx Veterans’ Appreciation Day Breakfast, as part of Bronx Week 2018.
The event pays tribute to the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. Past and current Bronx service men and women attended this special salute, honoring and thanking them for their service to the United States of America.
The event honored the New York National Guard and Team Red, White & Blue, for their support of the 2017 Bronx Puerto Rican / Mexican Relief efforts, as well as Lehman College Graduate Student/Research Asst. (U.S. Navy) Hannelyn Boyd, former Community Board #4 Chair and Longtime Bronx Community Leader (U.S. Army) D. Lee Ezell, Sam Young American Legion Post #620 (U.S. Army-Vietnam) member William (Bill) Franklin, and Co-op City Resident (U.S. Army-WWII Vet) Alan A. Kalter.
“We cannot express enough how grateful we are for our borough’s veterans and their service to our people and the United States of America, protecting the rights that we hold very dear and make our country great,” said Borough President Diaz. “And considering the immediate help that the New York National Guards and Team Red, White, and Blue provided in aiding Puerto Rico and Mexico after they were hit by natural disasters, this was the least we could do to show our appreciation in helping Mexico, Puerto Rico and The Bronx in their time of need.”
