Chairman Crowley Statement on Republican Farm Bill
(Washington, D.C.) – House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) issued the following statement on the Republican Farm Bill:
“This was one of the most heartless, cruel, and nonsensical bills that Republicans have proposed since I’ve been in Congress. It would have abandoned family farms, aggravated our food shortage crisis, and left one million Americans at risk of going hungry. It was shameful that Republicans even proposed it.
“While I’m glad today’s vote failed, Democrats will remain vigilant to protect SNAP benefits and the family farm from Republican neglect.”
