Congressman Serrano Joins Call to Abolish ICE
“ICE is a fatally flawed organization that operates without the necessary oversight or responsibility to do its job in in a fair and humane manner. It lacks the internal checks and balances to rein in these excesses, and it presenting a vision of America to the rest of the world that isn’t in keeping with our values. It is time to abolish ICE,” said Congressman José E. Serrano (D-NY15), a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

Public Advocate James Report Finds Child Dental Care Lacking

Public Advocate Letitia James’ latest report reveals inadequacies in New York City’s school-based oral healthcare programs, including that students at only one quarter of Department of Education (DOE) schools have access to oral healthcare services in their schools.

Disparities in dental care exist along racial and income lines: more black and Hispanic children experience poor oral healthcare compared to white and Asian children.

“There is no question that oral health is linked to overall healthcare and well-being. If we want our students to be healthy and succeed in school, we must provide adequate dental care for our children,” said Public Advocate Letitia James.

Cuomo: “ICE’s treatment of Pablo Villavicencio is unAmerican and a blatant abuse of power”
Today, Governor Cuomo issued an open letter to Deputy Director and Acting Director for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Ronald D. Vitiello demanding the release of Pablo Villavicencio, who was detained on June 1 while delivering pizza at Fort Hamilton. The letter also calls for a public update on the Governor’s demand for the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General to investigate the conduct of ICE agents.

Cynthia Nixon’s gubernatorial campaign released a video (here) day morning, detailing Gov. Cuomo’s long history of taking money from Donald Trump and numerous other real estate developers. In return for the millions in donations, Governor Cuomo has granted real estate developers and landlords massive tax breaks, permitted vacancy decontrol, gutted Department of Housing and Community Renewal budgets, and caused a crisis of evictions and skyrocketing rents across the state.

State’s Largest Union Backs Senator Klein
