“The Jolly” – Bronx Entrepreneurs and Business Network and Foxy Family

On December 4, 2013, The Bronx Entrepreneurs and Business Network (BEBN) and Foxy Family presented “The Jolly”, a holiday networking event. Held at Thirty3 Sixty3 Steakhouse in the Bronx, it served two purposes, a toy drive and an award presentation.

There was no cover charge, but folks were encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift. Over 150 toys were collected. They will be distributed to Bronx kids at a holiday community gathering.

Presenting the 2013 Bronx Entrepreneurs and Business Network Awards were Clarisel Gonzalez and Evelyn Torres. Gonzlaez founded BEBN, a networking hub for, by and about entrepreneurs and small businesses in the Bronx. Torres is the founder of the Foxy Family, a not for profit organization empowering and providing services to anyone who is exposed to or experienced domestic violence.

This year’s winners were: George Acevedo, Bronx Women’s Business Resource Center; Jacqueline Acevedo-Villanueva, MAS, Inc., Nina Cochran, CodeNYC; Ed Garcia Conde, Welcome to the Bronx; Mariposa Maria Teresa Fernandez, Poetry for Entrepreneurs; Alexandra Maruri, MCNY Tours; Maribel Mercado, Amapola Events Planning; Nicole Perrino, BronxMama; Cheryl Sanchez, The NetWorks Organization and Evelyn Torres, Foxy Family.

Led by host, Steven Coach Lynn, the crowd of over 100 participated in a caroling contest. The room was full of energy!

Award winning poet Mariposa recited two of her pieces. Her stage presence was incredible! The enunciated flow, Puerto Rican flare, New York style and bright smile definitely caught the attention of the room.

The event was a great success.

The Jolly Toy Give Away, hosted by the Foxy Family, will be held on Saturday, December 21 at Side Street Catering, 1332 Blondell Avenue from 1 -6 pm.
