Captain McGeown of the 45th Precinct stated at last night’s 45th Precinct Community Council meeting that on December 17th, 2013, Michael Cavallari, an employee at Foodtown on Crosby Avenue, was assaulted and brutally beat. He needed surgery and had several plates put in his face. On January 5, 2014 he was found dead at his residence. They do not know, at this time, if there is any relation. They are awaiting autopsy results from the Queens coroner. The individual, Salvatore Zambuto who did the original assault, turned himself in yesterday with his attorney. In the meantime, Police are awaiting tox & neuro reports to see how they will proceed with the case.
