The Comptroller has entered the building.

At the Bronx Christian Fellowship Church, at 1015 E. Gun Hill Road in Baychester this morning, Comptroller Scott Stringer joined many prominent Bronx clergy members, as well as other activists and political staffers,  in a public discussion on the progressive vision of the city and the Comptrollers office and how faith-based organizations and their leaders play a role.

After his remarks the Comptroller was questioned about homeless, economic development projects in the borough and the controversial endless fight regarding Fresh Direct attempting to set up shop in the South Bronx with $150 million in subsidies.  The Q and A is featured below, but tune in tomorrow for more on these issues addressed today.

joelsdad1A prominent member of the audience, who gave impassioned opening remarks before the Comptroller’s speech was Rev. Dr.  Ray Rivera, father of one of Stringer’s staffers and former 2013 City Council candidate Joel R. Rivera, who was also in attendance.

Rev. Rivera,  founder of the Latino Pastoral Action Center (LPAC), is widely known for an ideology of “social justice religion” as well as socially conservative beliefs.  He will host a similar forum with clergy and Mayor De Blasio in Manhattan next month.
