Councilman Andy King Celebrates Dr. Seuss’s 110th Birthday With Young Constituents

Council Member Andy King, celebrated the 110th birthday of  beloved author Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, with children in the Unity Afterschool program and kindergarten classes from PS 87 in North Baychester.

Council Member King encouraged the youngsters who gathered in the school’s auditorium to read a book at every opportunity.

“The window to your future is reading. To succeed you must learn to read,” he explained.

In addition to Council Member King, 10 volunteers came to the school to read various Dr. Seuss books to the students. They broke up into small groups and Council Member King read “Hop on Pop” youngsters in his group.

“Dr. Seuss is considered to be one of the best American children writers. His timeless stories have captivated the hearts of children and adults world-wide and have been instrumental in helping youngsters learn to read,” said King.
