Councilman Ritchie Torres is looking to organize Bronx residents to fight maternity ward cuts at North Bronx Central Hospital (NCBH) and is holding a meeting at the hospital at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday the 18th on the 17th Floor. The hospital is located at 3424 Kossuth Avenue in Norwood.

Northeast Bronx Councilman Andy King recently also shed light on the cuts leading to the shortage of labor-and-delivery services in the area, holding a rally at the hospital on February 26. (See Bronx Chronicle coverage here.)
The closing of the maternity ward at NCBH has led to a severe shortage of labor-and-delivery services in the central, northern, and western parts of the Bronx, straining other Bronx hospitals picking up the slack.
