Tonight, at the Bronx County Democratic Comittee headquarters on Eastchester Road, the regular meeting of the County’s young progressional group will discuss joining the national Young Democrats of America organization as an official chapter. Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island all have young Democrat organizations chartered with the national organziation, making Bronx County the only county not in the club. Chartering with the national organization was last discussed in late 2010 by a number of local activists. The group is currently an official arm of the borough’s county organization and does not make endorsements of candidates as the County Committee does, while official chartered Young Democrats of America chapters are not bound by the County’s official leadership but require their approval to charter. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is located at 1640 Eastchester Road.
