Latoya Joyner Announces Assembly Run Today

The Bronx County Democratic Party, Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and Public Advocate Letitcia James will join West Bronx State Assembly candidate Latoya Joyner today at the Bronx County Courthouse, where she will announce her run for the 77th district seat, formerly held by current City Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson.  The seat has been vacant since January, giving the 77th District residents no representation in the Assembly this year.

Joyner graduated from Richard R. Green High School and Stony Brook University, where she studied sociology and political science.

She’s no stranger to Bronx local government, having interned with former Assemblywoman (and current Deputy BP) Aurelia Greene and went on to work as a community liaison in her district office.

A 2012 graduate of the University at Buffalo Law School, she served as associate editor for the Buffalo Journal of Gender, Law and Social Policy.  She is a member of Community Board 4 and is currently emplyed as a court attorney for a judge of the New York City Civil Court.   Photo and information via the candidate’s website.
