Senator Klein Kicks Off First Ever Bronx Jewish Film Festival With Red Carpet and Plenty of Popcorn

In honor of Jewish-American Heritage Month, Senator Jeff Klein launched the first ever Bronx Jewish Film Festival, featuring six films over three days in five locations across the Bronx. The film festival’s kick-off, held at Seton Park, featured a red carpet and free popcorn for attendees. All films in the festival are free and open to the public.

“With its rich culture, traditions and history, the Jewish-American experience is reflected in countless classic and contemporary films,” Senator Klein said. “As Jewish-American Heritage month comes to a close, I am proud to have launched the first ever Jewish Film Festival here in the Bronx. It is my hope that Bronxites from all backgrounds and ages come together to enjoy these films either for the first time or once again.”

Congressman Eliot Engel said “From the arts to science, Jewish-American Heritage Month recognizes the many contributions the Jewish community has made to American culture. The inaugural Bronx Jewish Film Festival is a fun way to celebrate our culture. So grab a bag of popcorn, and arrive early for a good seat.”

“I appreciate that Senator Klein is sponsoring the Bronx Jewish film festival during Jewish American Heritage Month,” said Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz. “Jewish culture has been such a rich part of the Bronx and this is a very fitting way to celebrate it and bring people of all faiths and backgrounds together.”
