Yankee Stadium to host fourth annual “Bombers Boomer Broadway Softball Classic

The New York Yankees today announced that Yankee Stadium will host the fourth annual “Bombers Boomer Broadway Softball Classic” on Monday, June 23.

The fourth annual doubleheader will include two seven-inning games, with current Broadway stars facing off in the first game and Boomer’s celebrities playing members of the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team and New York Yankees alumni in the second game.   The event will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation and the Actors Fund.

Those scheduled to participate include 2014 Tony Award nominees Ramin Karimloo (Les Miserables) and Bryce Pinkham (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), as well as television star Aaron Tveit (Graceland). Also representing the Broadway stars will be Betsy Wolfe (Bullets over Broadway), Anika Larsen (Beautiful) and C.K. “Smoothy” Edwards (After Midnight).

Participating in the second game will be former Yankees Brian Boehringer, Charlie Hayes, Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez, Graeme Lloyd, Jeff Nelson, Joe Pepitone and Andy Phillips; WFAN morning show personalities Boomer Esiason, Craig Carton, Al Dukes, Bob Dwyer, Tommy Lugauer, Jerry Recco and Eddie Scozzare; NHL Hall-of-Famer Mark Messier; NFL Hall-of-Famer Anthony Munoz; former MLB All-Star John Franco; former NBA All-Star Wally Szczerbiak, and professional wrestler Velvet Sky.

Prior to the first game, Paul Nolan-star of the Broadway show Once-will perform the national anthem.

Members of the Broadway Show League, consisting of various Broadway performers, will form the two teams in the event’s first game, scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. The second game-between Boomer’s celebrities and Wounded Warriors/New York Yankees alumni-will start at approximately noon.

A limited number of tickets are available for purchase by visiting the Actors Fund website (www.actorsfund.org) or the Boomer Esiason Foundation website (http://www.esiason.org). Proceeds from the event will benefit the Boomer Esiason Foundation Fighting Cystic Fibrosis and The Actors Fund.

Gates will open at 9:00 a.m. Credential- and ticket-holding guests should enter Yankee Stadium through the Gate 4 Suite Entrance at the corner of East 161st Street and Jerome Avenue.
