A once-in-a-lifetime evening to benefit one of the world’s premier jazz flutists, Bronx native and Southeast Bronx resident Dave Valentin, who has not been able to perform as of late because of health issues.

According to a New York Times article in January, “Now, [Valentin] is mostly alone in his home. A stroke during a gig in March 2012 left him paralyzed on his right side, unable to walk, talk or lift his playing hand. Though he has recovered about 85 percent of his abilities, several fingers on his right hand are numb, and he cannot hold up his flute for long. Instead, he spends his days in a rented bungalow in Harding Park, a warren of twisty streets along the East River in the Bronx.”

Join an internationally-acclaimed array of Latin jazz artists for an unforgettable evening in support of the Bronx’s own legendary pied piper who generously donated his talents to so many community organizations and causes as a citizen-artist. Now, this concert is for him.
