Pelham Parkway Celebration A Big Hit

On a hot summer day this weekend, the Pelham Parkway Community came together for family fun in a post-Independence Day event sponsored by Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj, Senator Jeff Klein and Councilman Jimmy Vacca.  Free soccer balls and other toys were given away to the lucky youngsters whose parents brought them out. (Maybe some found out about the event here on Bronx Chronicle?)  Here’s Christmas-in-July Santa Gjonaj below.

As it was election season, petitioners collected signatures to help get Candidate Gjonaj and Candidate Klein get on the ballot but the locals were also treated to a petition from resident Lovie Pignata (below r.), who is attempting to open Morris Perk, a coffeehouse, in a former candy store now zoned such that a business can’t operate in the location.

(Below l-r) And here’s local photographer Aleksander Nilaj, Councilman Jimmy Vacca, and Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Assocation’s Edith Blitzer and Jackie Lutnick.
