A 56 Year old landscaper’s baby died in an unlicensed Claremont day care as originally reported by the Daily News:
A 20-month-old boy died under mysterious circumstances at a Bronx day care run out of a woman’s apartment, authorities and family members said Friday.
The child may have drowned in a tub, family members said, but police said that could not be determined Friday night.
Police were called to the College Ave. apartment in Claremont at 2:20 p.m. after little Cardell Williamson stopped breathing.
Cops tried CPR on the child, then rushed him to Bronx Lebanon Hospital in their squad car, but doctors were unable to save him.
“He was only 20 months old!” his devastated father Carlyle Williamson, 56, screamed — tears running down his cheeks — as distraught family members tried to console him at the hospital Friday night.
“He was my heart and my soul,” the landscaper said. “I don’t know what I am going to do!”
“His son was all he had in the world,” neighbor Rasheda Robinson, 26, told the News. “Now he’s got nothing. He wants to kill himself.”
Williamson, a single dad, fought his ex for custody of Cardell.
