Dept. of City Planning Envisions a Greener Bronx Through New Metro North Stations

The NYC Department of City Planning introduced a new report that outlines their vision for a greener, more sustainable Bronx through the use of transit locations, particularly the new Metro North locations currently in progress, located in Melrose, University Heights, Morris Heights, Tremont, Williamsbridge, Fordham, Morris Park, and Parkchester.

The DCP report notes,”The Bronx is currently growing at a rate unseen since the 1940s and is projected to grow by 14% by 2040, the fastest projected growth rate of any borough.”

This plan, which includes increasing walkability, new greenspaces, seamless connection to other transportation, redevelopment of waterfront areas, and introducing new storefronts and housing, will bolster support through outreach to stakeholders and  the community in each of the areas.

These improvements, along with new retail development across the borough continue to make the case for the Bronx’s current growth being viable and sustainable.
