STATEMENT FROM BOROUGH PRESIDENT DIAZ RE: Nomination of Michael Greco to Serve as U.S. Marshal

“I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Michael Greco, who has been nominated by President Barack Obama to serve as U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of New York. I am proud to have personally advocated for his selection to Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, given that he is both a Bronx native and of Puerto Rican descent, and that his story resonates with me so personally.

“During his considerable career as a New York State Police Officer, Michael Greco has proven himself to be a valuable asset to his department and our state, and a pillar of the community-at-large. Michael Greco has received numerous awards and promotions during his service to the New York State Police, indicating to all that he is a man of great competence and integrity. I am proud that he has been nominated to serve as U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of New York, and I am grateful to President Obama, Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand for supporting such an exemplary candidate for this important position,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
