Got Your Flu Shot?

The Mayor’s Office, in collaboration with the Office of Labor Relations, is launching a Flu Vaccination Campaign to ensure that City employees have easy access to a flu shot through the month of December. This is one of many wellness initiatives that the City is committing to in an effort to improve the health of the New York City workforce. The flu is most common during the fall and winter months. Every year, more than 2,000 New Yorkers die of seasonal influenza and pneumonia, which can develop as a complication of the flu. A flu shot is the BEST way to protect against the flu.

Starting on Monday, November 10th, this campaign will allow you to get a free flu vaccination:
– At the doctor’s office
– At a participating pharmacy
– At an Advantage Care Physician facility

And for some employees:
– In a City-sponsored van
– At an agency-sponsored worksite clinic

Administration of the vaccine in a van or at an agency-sponsored worksite is a pilot program that will be offered at a limited number of agencies. To find out if your agency is going to offer the flu shot in a van or at the worksite, contact your agency Personnel or HR office. They will let you know how to schedule your appointment and where to go for the shot.

Only City employees who are currently enrolled in City health benefits are eligible to receive the flu shot through the Flu Vaccination Campaign. Wherever you go to get the shot, it is a good idea to bring your agency ID and your health plan card as you may have to have one, or both of them, to actually receive the shot.

Now is the time to protect yourself before the height of the flu season.
