Vacca joins Citywide effort to get rent relief For Qualified Tenants

On December 5, 2014, City Council Member James Vacca will partner with the Pelham Parkway Neighborhood Association, Bronx House, and the City Council to host an informational event at Bronx House to get qualified tenants rent relief. Vacca joins a citywide effort to enroll tenants with limited means into one of two rent relief programs.

New York offers two programs for tenants who have limited means: the Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption (SCRIE) program for seniors (aged 62 or over) and the Disability Rent Increase Exemption (DRIE) for those with qualifying federal disabilities.

Income requirements for the SCRIE and DRIE programs were increased in July of this year to extend the benefit to more tenants.
