KLEIN & SEPULVEDA TO UNVEIL “ILDEFONSO ROMERO’S LAW”

Elected Officials will join Family at Community Candlelight Vigil as the First Christmas without their Beloved Husband, Father and Neighbor Approaches

 

New Law Would Strengthen Criminal Penalties for Physical Assaults — Commonly Known As “One-Punch” — That Result In Injury or Death

 

BRONX, NYState Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), together with Assemblyman Luis Sepúlveda (D-Bronx), community and family members will hold a candlelight vigil in memory of Ildefonso Romero, Jr., on Saturday, December 20th at 4:00 PM at Lafayette Avenue and Thieriot Avenue in the Soundview section of the Bronx.

 

Following the tragic death of Ildefonso Romero, Jr. last summer, Senator Klein and Assemblyman Sepúlvedawill introduce “Ildefonso Romero’s Law,” new legislation that would strengthen criminal penalties for physical assaults that result in injury or death. This new legislation would remedy glaring loopholes in New York State’s penal law and enable prosecutors to charge and convict assailants with felony offenses.
