Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair for the Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement on the passing of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo:
“I am incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo and I extend my most heartfelt condolences to his family during this very difficult time.
“A proud son of Queens, Governor Cuomo always put New Yorkers first. He will be remembered for his leadership, compassion and his commitment to moving our great country forward.
“From my days as a kid volunteer on his mayoral campaign in 1977, to serving in the New York State Assembly during his second terms as governor, I was always in awe of his passion for the issues and his dedication to public service.
“New York is a better New York today because of Mario Cuomo.”
