TIXFIX EX-COP JOSE RAMOS FACES FINAL JUSTICE

Pleads Guilty, Sentenced on Murder Conspiracy, Ticket-Fixing Charges

(Bronx, NY – January 13, 2015)  – Bronx District Attorney Robert Johnson announced that disgraced former police officer JOSE RAMOS, today pled guilty and was sentenced in the remaining six indictments against him for crimes ranging from ticket-fixing to Grand Larceny, selling counterfeit CDs and DVDs – to the most serious, conspiring to kill a witness in the cases against him while he was being detained on some of the earlier indictments.

This comes less than three months after RAMOS was found guilty during a jury trial of charges including Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, Attempted Grand Larceny in the 3rd Degree and Attempted Robbery in the 2nd Degree (Ind. 3297/2011), and for which he was sentenced to 12-and-a-half to 14-and-a-half years in prison.

With today’s sentencing, RAMOS is facing a total of 15-½ to 23-½ years behind bars.  He has also waived his right to appeal.

Wearing his orange Department of Correction jumpsuit, and before a near-empty courtroom, JOSE RAMOS entered a plea of guilty in each of the following indictments and charges and was sentenced by Justice Michael A. Gross:

2047/2012 PL 105.15 – Conspiracy in the 2nd Degree Class B Felony 3 to 9 consecutive to prior sentencing
3298/2011 PL 155.35 – Grand Larceny in the 3rd Class D Non-Violent Felony 1 to 3 concurrent
3300/2011 275.40 (2) – Failure to Disclose the Origin of a Recording in the 1st Class E Felony 1 to 3 concurrent
3299/2011 PL 120.20 – Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree Class A Misdemeanor 1 year concurrent
3301/2011 PL 195.00 (1) – Official Misconduct Class A Misdemeanor 1 year concurrent
3307/2011 PL. 195.05 – Obstruction of Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree Class A Misdemeanor 1 year concurrent

 

In each of the cases, JOSE RAMOS withdrew his former guilty pleas and allocuted to the crimes, which included arranging for the murder of a witness, the plans cooked up while RAMOS was behind bars awaiting trial.  He also allocuted to a string of other misdeeds that included divulging the identity of a confidential informant, selling counterfeit CDs and DVDs, insurance fraud, official misconduct, and the actual ticket fixing.

The case against JOSE RAMOS was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Omer Wiczyk and Meagan Powers of the BXDA Rackets Bureau, under the supervision of Bureau Chief Stuart Levy.
