SENATOR JEFF KLEIN, SOUNDVIEW HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION & ATTORNEY SUSAN CHANA LASK TO ANNOUNCE $8 MILLION FEDERAL LAWSUIT AGAINST NYC DEPARTMENT OF BUILDINGS

NYC Department of Buildings Allegedly Duped Bronx Homeowners Into Spending Life Savings on Unsafe, Uninhabitable Homes for $100 Million Profit

NEW YORK, NY – Senate Independent Conference Leader State Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester), together with the Soundview Homeowners Association and their Attorney at Law Susan Chana Lask, will hold a press conference to announce the filing of an $8 million federal lawsuit against the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) today at the Hutchinson Metro Center in the Bronx at 12:00 P.M. The new lawsuit alleges the defendants, the DOB and its contractor Bad Ass Inc., swindled Bronx homeowners out of millions of dollars by constructing substandard homes and leaving new owners without valid certificates of occupancy.

Regularly turning a blind eye to fraudulent schemes such as this, the DOB raked in more than $100 million this year in licensing fees from builders – padding the pockets of the City and big developers at the expense of Bronx families in search of the American Dream.
