COUNCIL MEMBER ANDY KING REMEMBERS THE LEGACY OF MALCOLM X

CM Andy King Speaking“We must not forget, it was 50 years ago today [February 21] that brother Malcolm X was gunned down at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem. Although he is not with us today, the humanitarian works of the Malcolm X movement are legendary. His works for justice and racial equality are respected by many Americans from the White House to the ordinary citizen — and myself included. I recall Brother Malcolm once said “I am not a racist. I am against every form of racism and segregation, every form of discrimination. I believe in human beings, and that all human beings should be respected as such, regardless of their color.” Brother Malcolm’s spirit is among us today crying out that ‘#blacklivesmatter.’  Let us not forget the historic contributions of brother Malcolm X,” said Council Member Andy King, co-chair of the Black, Latino & Asian Caucus.
