CITY COUNCIL HONORS DC 37 FOR EBOLA RESPONSE

 

(New York, NY) On March 11, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito (center) and other council member presented a proclamation to several District Council 37 leaders in appreciation of their members’ heroic efforts during the recent Ebola health crisis.  Among the honored were Local 3621 President Vincent Variale, Local 2507 President Israel Miranda, Local 420 2nd Vice President Jose Robles and Local 420 Chapter Chair Anthony Balfour, and Local 375 Secretary Ahmed Shakir.

Accepting the award on behalf of DC 37 Executive Director Henry Garrido was Assistant Associate Director Jahmila K. Joseph.

Ebola is a severe, often fatal disease that affects humans and some animals (monkeys, gorillas and chimpanzees). It is caused by the Ebola virus.

The New York City Health Department continues to advise New Yorkers that if they visited one of the affected countries and develop fever or other symptoms within 21 days after leaving that country, they should call 911 right away.
