Music on the Boulevard: Success!

The Southern Blvd. BID, in conjunction with Marketing & Advertising Solutions Inc. (MAS) & Casita Maria-Center of Arts & Education presented: “Music on the Boulevard” on Saturday August 22nd from 12pm-6pm. This concert was the second annual for the Southern Blvd area and was hosted by Yamilet Mia and Artie Rodriguez from Artie and Legit. It took place on Southern boulevard bet. E. 163rd street and Westchester Ave. Not to mention, our surprise guest host, Candela rocked the stage and had the crowd cheer as he sang the well-known Puerto Rican song: “Que Bonita Bandera!” Hosts engaged with the audience from beginning to end and flung WWE T-shirts into the crowd in between songs.

Music on the boulevard was a musically diverse concert filled with live performances. Various talents include but were not limited to: Dr. Drum from BombaYo—a Puerto Rican tradition where singing, dancing and drumming come together, Latin Jazz Grammy Nominee—Bobby Sanabria, EC Salsero, the Universal Museum of Hip-Hop Legends:  Stik E & the Hoods, B Boy Hectic ft. The Bliss Dancers & T Ski Valley, former freestyle artist Joey Kidd and more! Children had lots of fun activities for them to partake in. Such as, the unlimited use of a bounce house, face painting, pony rides, pictures with the Minions, a dance contest on stage for a prize, and even maraca making at the Casita Maria table! Let’s not forget the complimentary giveaways of back-to-school materials for all children! Additionally, BX furniture raffled off a 40” flat screen TV to a lucky winner.
