New Master’s Degree Programs at Monroe College

Monroe College, a national leader in urban and international education, today announced that its King Graduate School will be offering Master’s programs in Accounting and Computer Science to meet heightened demand from employers for professionals with advanced expertise in these fields. Both programs will begin enrolling students in the Winter 2016 semester.

The 36-credit Master of Science (M.S.) in Accounting program, to be offered on the New Rochelle and Bronx campuses, is designed to enhance the financial and technical acumen of students interested in pursuing accounting and auditing careers. The program will also help prepare students for the CPA exam. Additional program information is outlined online.

Applications are now also being accepted for the 36-credit M.S. in Computer Science program to be offered on the New Rochelle and Bronx campuses. The program is designed to expand students’ theoretical, analytical, and practical skills to better meet the complex demands of today’s technology-centric business environment. Program details, including admissions requirements, are available online. “These new Master’s programs in Accounting and Computer Science will provide students with the essential knowledge and technical competencies they need to truly thrive in those rapid-paced, high-demand fields and better position them for accelerated career advancement,” said Alex Canals, Dean of Admissions and Student Services for the King Graduate School. “We look forward to welcoming the first students to these programs next January.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, career prospects for those with advanced accounting knowledge are strong, with high demand leading to a 13 percent increase in relevant jobs over the next seven years. Similarly, the IT field continues to grow exponentially, with job growth predicted to increase by as much as 37% for information security analysts over that same time period to 25% for computer systems analysts and 12% for network and computer systems administrators.
