Get Money Smart: Make more, Better manage
Everyone knows that the initial embarrassment of bouncing a check, or getting an “Insufficient Funds” message from an ATM, fades. However, the cost of continued financial ignorance is lasting. Many people don’t have a firm grasp of, or teach their children about, money management, credit, debt, taxes or the basics of compound interest, investing or retirement planning.
Members of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) want more New Yorkers to Get Money Smart at their first-ever Money Brunch event to be held Saturday, October 24 at the Eagle Academy in the Bronx, 1413 Third Ave. from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. CPAs will offer one-on-one consultations and lead a seminar series on the following topics: making college affordable, managing debt and credit, basics of investing, and tax tips for individuals and small businesses.
The NYSSCPA also has created a resource page loaded with videos, radio spots, and downloadable financial literacy materials for the public: nysscpa.org/getmoneysmart.
The NYSSCPA, is the first state accounting organization in the U.S. and the third largest. The non-profit Society represents more than 28,000 CPA, accountants, financial planners, bankers, educators and students
